Microcline forms quick prismatic or tabular crystals that are regularly of sizeable length: single crystals can weigh several lots and reach yards in the period. Crystals are often multiply twinned, with two sets of fine lines at proper angles to each other. This offers a “plaid” effect that is precise to microcline some of the feldspars.
