Muscovite Crystals on Albite with Microlite Urundu Mine, Skardu District, Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan. Muscovite is a member and most common form of Mica which is a group of related aluminum silicate minerals that are soft and have perfect basal cleavage (type of cleavage exhibits on a horizontal plane of mineral by way of its base).
Its name is derived from "Muscovy glass" which describes a thick sheet of transparent mica This particular specimen features multiple muscovite crystal fans shooting out from the albite matrix with a nice detail of cleavelandite. The crystals have interestingly 360 formations with perfect monoclinic crystal structure and very compact clusters. Furthermore, it has nice detailed microlite crystals in combination making it a beautiful combination specimen.
