Smoky Quartz Crystals on Microcline Albite Skardu District, Gilgit Baltistan Province, Pakistan. Presenting here is this large cabinet size specimen featuring multiple-well crystallized and balanced minerals. Huge perfectly pointed terminated Smokey Quartz crystals shoot out of beautiful contrasting twined milky white Microcline crystal. Microcline is polymorphous with Orthoclase and Sanidine as these three form the Potassium K 'calcium' Feldspar group.
The microcline here is well crystallized in the Triclinic crystal structure and nicely twinned, which is common in such minerals. The other two rest of minerals from the same group are crystallized in the monoclinic crystal structure, through which these are distinguished from each other. In this particular specimen, the smokey quartz has amazing transparency with good smokey color creating an awesome contrast against the milky white background. The indeed beautiful and sculptural specimen in such perfection and combination!
