Microcline forms quick prismatic or tabular crystals that are regularly of sizeable length: single crystals can weigh several lots and reach yards in period. Crystals are often multiply twinned, with two sets of fine lines at proper angles to each other. This offers a “plaid” effect that is precise to microcline some of the feldspars. Microcline also can be big. The mineral occurs in feldspar-rich rocks, such as granite, syenite, and granodiorite. it is discovered in granite pegmatites and in metamorphic rocks, which includes gneisses and schists.
