Kunzite Spodumene var Kunzite Lustrous Crystals from Kunaar, Afghanistan available for sale at gandharagems. The Gemstone Kunzite. It is the pink to light purple gem variety of the mineral Spodumene. It is a common mineral, but only in several localities does it occur in transparent gem form. The main gem form of Spodumene is Kunzite, the other is the rarer Hiddenite.
It is trichroic, which means that three colors can be viewed from differing angles: pink, clear, and violet. Sometimes the color change is limited to shade changes, such as from pale pink to dark pink. However, when speaking of color-changing gemstones, the ability to change color depends on the type of light.
The way this crystal is formed makes it easy to break, so cutting it can be tough. What gives its color? The small amounts of manganese, a chemical element. its crystals are usually long and have an uneven top.
It is the pink-to-violet variety of the mineral spodumene and gets its color from manganese. It's most often found in shades of pale pink, but more vivid colors are possible and it can achieve rare hues of vivid violet to purple.
