Perfect Pyrite Crystal Cube Perched on Marl Matrix Navajun, La Rioja, Spain. Pyrite is immensely popular among collectors for its ability to create wonderfully perfect, geometric forms and for its attractive metallic luster. While it is relatively abundant, most pyrites are granular or exist as small and somewhat amorphous crystals. There are just a handful of localities that produced distinctly formed crystals and differentiate for their size & impeccable crystal expression.
The pyrite from Navajun, Spain is arguably one of the most distinctive and famous for its exceptionally acute cubic forms. This particular specimen is an incredible example from such a locality, featuring a single, good sizeable pyrite crystal that is absolutely pristine. Its faces are remarkably smooth with gorgeous sharp edges. The crystal sits partially embedded in a well-balanced matrix of white marl, at an orientation that is optimal for savoring its flawless form. The earthy, matte texture of the marl provides a striking contrast for the pyrite's marked precision, punctuating its metallic golden color and high capacity for the luster. Indeed a very pretty and beautiful piece for collection in such perfection and aesthetics.
